This position is in the Plant Operations department at the Veterans Home of California, Yountville and is responsible for erecting, maintaining, and repairing various buildings and structures; makes rough sketches and cost estimates; repairs sidewalks, slabs, retaining walls, and foundations, advises in the selection of building materials, keeps records and makes simple reports.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Completion of Carpentry courses/apprenticeship Certificate. You will be required to provide a copy of your certificate prior to being hired.

Veterans may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.

Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.

A complete application package includes: an STD. 678 and resume is optional.

If your eligibility requires that you meet the Minimum Qualifications of the class and you qualify under pattern requiring education, then the selected candidate will be required to provide college transcripts prior to appointment .
