The Chemist I is responsible for performing comprehensive environmental data validation in accordance with U.S. EPA National Functional Guidelines and DoD Validation Guidelines, including reviewing analytical data packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable methods. They will coordinate with project managers, field staff, project teams, and analytical laboratories to address data quality issues, manage data collection and tracking, and ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope and budget. The Chemist I will critically evaluate analytical data to assess usability relative to data quality objectives.

This position will report to our office location in Jacksonville, FL

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform data validation in compliance with EPA National Functional Guidelines and DoD Validation Guidelines, which includes quality control reviews of preliminary and final analytical data packages across a wide variety of matrices and constituents
• Coordinate with the project manager and field staff on field data collection issues and act as a point-of-contact on analytical data matters for the project team and analytical laboratories throughout the project lifecycle
• Communicate with analytical laboratories to coordinate analyses and address data quality issues
• Work with project teams to coordinate data collection, data tracking, and reporting while keeping to project schedules, scopes and budgets
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Review environmental laboratory data for completeness, correctness, and compliance against the published analytical methods
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously effectively and efficiently with precision and adapt to changes in responsibilities and workloads

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and 0-3 years of related experience

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Critical attention to detail, well-organized, and self-starter that can prioritize work assignments to deliver on time and within budget
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Familiarity with US EPA methods for the preparation and analysis of environmental samples
• Experience in working with government clients
• Experience with USEPA & DOD guidelines
• Familiarity with EQuIS and/or EQuIS DQM

Additional Qualifying Factors:

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.

Work is mostly performed from a sedentary posture. The employee is regularly required to hear, talk, sit, and use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and phone. The employee may be occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust vision.

Working Conditions:

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
